Safety tips
Paw Re-Fur connects people. We don’t inspect items or check who anyone is, so a little care goes a long way.
Handing over or collecting an item
- Meet in a busy public place in daylight, such as a mall entrance, a void deck common area or a community centre, not at your home.
- Never share your home address, unit number or full name if you don’t need to.
- Bring a friend or tell someone where you’re going.
- Check the item’s condition and cleanliness before accepting it. Wash or disinfect second-hand beds, carriers, crates and toys before your pet uses them.
- Don’t accept medicines, flea/tick treatments or opened food. Report the listing.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave and report the user.
- Keep the conversation in the app until you’re comfortable.
Lost and found pets
- Never pay money to get a pet back, and be wary of anyone who asks for a “reward” or deposit before showing a photo or proof.
- Ask for details only the real owner would know, such as distinguishing marks or the microchip number, and verify before handing over.
- Don’t post your exact home address. Use the neighbourhood only.
- If you found an animal, have a vet scan for a microchip.
- Meet in a public place in daylight.
When unsure about any health-related item, ask a vet first. Paw Re-Fur doesn’t give veterinary advice and isn’t an emergency service. If a pet is injured or unwell, contact a vet straight away (see our Vet Clinics page).
